Humboldt-Institut is one of Germany’s leading organizations in German language education. Established in 1977 at a single center in Ratzenried Castle, the institution has expanded to 12 centers due to high demand.
Bad Schussenried is located in the southern part of Germany, nestled amidst greenery between Lake Constance and the Danube River. The school is just 5 minutes away from the historic town.
Courses
At Humboldt-Institut Bad Schussenried, German language education is provided for all levels from A1 to C2. Students in the age group of 10-13 receive 25 lessons per week, while students in the age group of 14-17 receive 30 lessons per week. Students are assessed through a test on the first day of the course and placed in appropriate level classes. Classes have an average of 11 students.
For students who wish to receive very intensive education, there are options for 25, 30, or 40 private lessons per week.
Interested students can take telc tests for an additional fee:
- telc Deutsch A1, B2
- telc Deutsch Junior (A1)
- telc Deutsch Schule (A2, B1)
Accommodation
Students participating in the Humboldt-Institut Bad Schussenried summer school program stay in double rooms with shower and toilet in the school dormitory on a full board basis. Students who speak the same language are not allowed to stay together. The school washes students’ laundry once a week. At the beginning of the program, passports and pocket money are handed over to the school’s cash desk. Wi-Fi is available for students’ use. A €50 damage deposit is collected from students upon their arrival.

Activities
In the afternoons, various social and sports activities are organized at the school: football, basketball, volleyball, billiards, barbecue, climbing wall, disco, mountain biking, piano, table tennis, swimming (indoor pool and lake), sauna, etc.
One full-day and one half-day excursion is organized each week: Augsburg, Munich (Allianz Arena, BMW Welt, Olympiapark, Deutsches Museum), Constance, Ravensburg, Lindau, Island of Mainau, Friedrichschafen, Kempten, Meersburg, Neuschwanstein & Linderhof Castles, Stuttgart, Ulm, Schaffhausen & Rhine Falls, Alps.
Airport Transfer
Airport transfer is provided to/from Friedrichshafen, Memmingen, Zurich and Munich airports at an extra charge.
